Island Baths

ISLAND BATHS are the ideal choice if you have a larger bathroom or if you don't require a shower to be installed over the bath.

Island Baths give a more luxurious and open feeling to your bathing area. The hob that surrounds the perimeter of the bath is an ideal space to place candles and incense if you enjoy a long, relaxing soak.

Island baths are available either rectangular or oval in shape and models are avialable for single person or 2 person use.

INSTALATION
Island Baths are a drop-in bath similar to an Inset Built-In bath. They are built into a platform, hob, or in some instances can be set directly into the floor.

Island bath tubs need more space than a Inset Built-In Bath, due to the extra length and width from the platform or hob it is set in, which is normally 50-100mm on all sides.

A support frame is constructed to hold the bath. The supporting frame is then enclosed on all exposed faces with a material of your choice, generally tiles, however many other materials such as timber or glass may be used.

WASTE POSITION
Depending on the style of bath you choose the waste outlet position can vary. Most commonly, as a guide, single person baths will have the waste at the foot end, while baths made for 2 will have the waste in the centre of the bath (this saves someone from having to sit on the plug).

OVERFLOW
Some baths may be fitted with an overflow. The overflow is a hole (generally covered by an attractive chrome cover) towards the top of the bath. It's job is to stop the bath from overflowing. As the water level reaches the overflow any excess water will be re-directed to the waste outlet by a pipe or tube concealed behind the bath.
